According to puranas "Kush-van" (grass forest) named pleasant forest is located in vrindawan of brajdham, which is well adorned with varieties of flowers, lata and vrishawali's. Shri balkrishna used to visit here to feed his herd of cows along with the cowherd and their cows. It has been explained in section vrindavan of Garg Sahinta. This holy place of vraj is now popular by the name of "Kosi-Kalan", situated on Agra-Delhi highway. When Shri Krishna left vraj for dwarka, he still had great affection towards vraj and also offered invitation to vrajvasis to visit dwarika. On desire of Nand-Baba, Shri Krishna makes an appearance of dwarika within this Kush-van (Kosi-Kalan) itself. Its proof equivalent to its meaning of "Name" is still available. Anart, the great grand son of Manu (great devotee of Shri Krishna), established Dwarika. Shayarti (Anarts father) was a chakravarti king. Anart replied to his father that being a chakravarti was due to the blessings of Shri Krishna, while his brothers said that it was their father's courage and strength (parakram) was the main cause of being chakrawarti. Dissatisfied with Anart's behavior, Shayarti expelled him from his kingdom. Anart worshipped Shri Krishna for ten thousand years. Pleased by the prayers of Anart, Shri Krishna brought land from heaven, placed it on the sudarshan chakra and established it on the ocean. Anart made this holy place his capital and ruled it for hundred thousand years. The kingdom was named Anart as per his name. As per "Garg Sahinta" Revat (son of Anart) constructed grassland (kushasthali) here. Later on in dwapar yuga, Shri Krishna established dwarika on this kushasthali place. In dwarika, Gomti-Ganga, ratnakar pond and revtak cliffs are the holy places, and all of these can be found in kush-van (Kosi-Kalan) Affectionate by the prayers of his devotee (Anart), tears of Shri Krishna's formed Gomti-Ganga. The same Gomti-Ganga is now polluted and has reached to deteriorating stage. Looking at the destruction of this historical holy place, sincere devotees are in tears. For the protection of vanishing glories of Gomti-Ganga, let us all unite together and follow honorable saint Shri Ramesh-Baba Ji. |
There are three tanks named "Maya Kund", "Bisakha Kund" and "Gomati Kund" in allusion to places so styled at the holy-city of Dwarika or Kushsthali - a circumstance which has given rise to, or at least confirms, the popular belief that Kosi is only a contraction of Kushsthali. The Gomati Kund is accounted the most sacred and is the prettiest spot in the town. There are three masonry ghats and on all sides of it there are a number of small shrines and temples over shadowed by fine kadamb, pipal and bar trees, full of monkeys, peacock and different aquatic birds playing in and around the kund. |
Crystal clear flowing YAMUNA is polluted! Holy Kund-Ponds is polluted! Forests-Gardens is being destroyed! Cliffs-Mountains is being demolished! Cultural property is being looted! If you have an urge in your heart and desire of cooperation, then come along! Let us all together try to save all these and do some thing so that our next generation should not call us an irresponsible. |
